Open Positions - Postdocs

Research Associate in Quantum Photonics

National Research Council Canada/University of Ottawa – Ottawa, Canada.

Deadline: October 31st, 2023
Starting date: Winter 2024

We are actively seeking outstanding candidates for a postdoctoral position in the Ultrafast Quantum Photonics (UQP) research group. The successful candidate will join a vibrant team of postdocs, students, and staff scientist at the National Research Council (NRC) and University of Ottawa, working in state-of-the art laboratories. Our mission is to drive innovation in foundational science and technology through collaborative research.

The UQP group studies fundamentals of light-matter interactions in the quantum and nonlinear optical regime and investigates applications in sensing with non-classical light, photonic quantum computing, and quantum communications. Our state-of-the-art facilities offer a vibrant research setting and include a wide array of advanced sources and detectors, including time tagging photon cameras and photon number resolving detectors. For more information, please visit our group webpage: quantumtechnology.ca.

The ideal candidate should have a PhD in experimental quantum optics, nonlinear optics, or other related field and be able to show examples of exceptional skill or talent in these fields. We are looking for candidates to start in Fall 2023. However, if you have a strong interest in the position but are only available at a later stage, please email us with an expression of interest.

Applications from members of underrepresented groups in Physics are especially encouraged.

Applicants will be asked to provide the following documents:

  • CV containing a list of publications and the names of at least two professional references.
  • An original piece of their scientific writing (such as a first author manuscript or thesis).
